Police in Siaya have arrested a 24-year-old man who presentred himself to the authorities after stabbing his big brother to death.

The siblings who are total orphans from Sirongo-Oware village, Central Alego location in Siaya county were fighting for food when the incident happened.

Confirming the incident, Kakumu-Kombewa sub-location Assistant Chief Philip Ogola noted that the suspect, Lawrence Oduor Wayodi was demanding for a meal from his 26-year-old brother Erick Otieno who at the time was preparing dinner.

He explained that the deceased left briefly and upon return he realised the knife he was using to prepare food was missing.

He asked his younger brother about it leading to the fight. Oduor is said to have poured water into the fire before pulling out the missing knife and stabbed Otieno to death.

“When Otieno asked for the knife, his younger brother poured water into the fire and then picked a fight with him before drawing the knife which he used to stab him to death,” the administrator stated.

After the incident, the Assistant Chief visited the scene where he found the deceased’s body lying in a pool of blood with several knife wounds on his chest and informed police officers.

The deceased body has since been moved to Siaya County Referral Hospital mortuary as the suspect is held in custody.

The matter remains under investigations.
