According to preliminary reports, the students were heading to Eldoret for a sports event, when the bus carrying over 30 of them collided with a matatu along Kayole area in Naivasha.

At least 14 have been confirmed dead while several injured persons have been taken to nearby hospitals for immediate medical attention.

Rift Valley police boss Tom Odera said 12 p****e died on the spot, indicating that the number of casualties could rise.

“The bus rolled and killed 12 on the spot. We may have more casualties,” he said.

According to Odera, the driver l**********l and hit at least five vehicles before rolling into a ditch.

Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party leader consoled with the families who had lost their loved ones in the accident.

“I extend my sincere condolences to the Pwani University community and all those who lost colleagues, friends, and loved ones in the regrettable accident that involved a Pwani University bus and matatu on the Naivasha-Nakuru highway,” he said.
