Armed men stormed Mwinjoyo FM studios, a Nakuru-based radio station on the evening of Thursday, May 11, 2023.
In a video seen by K24 Digital, the robbers who had covered their faces with a piece of clothing attacked as presenters were live on air.
The three men ordered the presenters to switch off the instruments before demanding them to lie down.
Out of the trio, one was armed with a gun while the other had a machete.
“Zima hio kitu. Zima haraka!, (Switch off that thing. Switch it off quickly!)” one of the robbers ordered the presenters as they stormed in.
Another quickly asked: “Ni nini unafanya wewe? (What are you doing?)”
The gang was constantly on the lookout for any incoming persons.
Upon realising that the session was on Facebook Live, the gunmen took away the phones and switched them off.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the gunmen made away with the presenters’ mobile phones and some electronics.
Police in the area have stated that investigations are currently ongoing.
“The owners of the radio station have recorded statements and we are relying on their statements and other evidence to hunt down the criminals,” Nakuru East sub-county criminal investigations boss George Momanyi stated.
