Chief Justice Martha Koome has announced that a probe has been launched to determine the killers of a senior court assistant at Migori law court who was shot dead on Friday, May 5, 2023.

In a press release sent to newsrooms, Koome affirmed that the police were taking up the matter and that the Judiciary will make information public once they get details from the officers handling the case.

While assuring the family of justice, Koome commiserated with the family and sympathised with their situation.

“The matter is being investigated by local police and we will provide further details to the Judiciary family and wider public once the details of the investigation are made available.

“On behalf of the Judiciary, I wish to convey our heartfelt condolences and sympathy to her family following this tragic event,” the statement reads in parts.

The deceased, Phoebe Auma Suda, was shot dead while in the company of a boda boda operator as she was heading to work.

Preliminary findings revealed that Phoebe was shot by a lone gunman riding on a motorbike with concealed number plates.

At the time, Phoebe and her rider were slowing down to join the Kisii-Migori highway.

The suspect, currently on the run, shot Phoebe twice in the head and neck before shooting the boda boda rider in the head.

After that he, disappeared leaving the two in pools of blood.
