The CS said the new changes were made to facilitate investigations and ensure efficiency in security operations in the disturbed area.

Kindiki also stated that the logistics for establishing an Anti-Stock Theft Police Unit (ASTU) facility at Loloro have been completed and the camp will be operational from May 10, 2023.

At the same time, the Interior CS confirmed that the police have made progress in the investigations into the brutal killing of the immediate former MCA George Kaliunga.

“The security intelligence teams on the ground are closing in on some suspects who once arrested will be arraigned in court to face charges of murder and other related offences,” he said.

He added: “The Government is processing the requests that were made by the members of the public to procure a police vehicle and upgrade one of the police posts to a police station in the process. Two more Police Posts will be established along this border.

“We have upscaled intelligence-led security surveillance in the area. To this end, the County and Sub-County Security and Intelligence teams have intensified their surveillance to ensure there will be no recurrence of cattle rustling activities in the area.”
