A family in Lari, Kiambu is in agony after their kin’s body was on Saturday, May 9, 2023, found murdered and dumped in Kijabe forest.
The deceased, a Form two student at Mbau-ini secondary school, reportedly went missing on Friday evening.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the girl had been strangled to death.
While confirming the incident, Lari head of Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Eunice Maingi assured the family of the deceased that police were investigating the incident.
Maingi says so far no arrests have been made. She also called on members of the public to help police with investigations.
The matter has attracted attention from local leaders who have reiterated that police should take up the matter swiftly.
Led by Lari Member of Parliament (MP) Mburu Kahangara, the leaders urged parents to advise their children not to walk alone near forests.
“We have been saddened by report of the brutal murder of that student. We are appealing to police to investigate the whole issue since we want to know who the killers are and ensure justice has been done,” he said.
