According to EACC, Abdihakim Dagane Hassan forged a Business Information Technology degree certificate and transcripts from Mt Kenya University.

Hassan is accused of securing employment as a Senior Computer Technologist at the university using the forged academic certificates.

He later secured admission and pursued a Master’s degree in Business Administration (Management Information Systems) at Kenyatta University using the same papers.

Hassan is also accused of producing and selling fake degree and diploma certificates purporting them to be issued by Garissa University.

“EACC is investigating new allegations that while working as a Senior Computer Technologist at Garissa University, the suspect has allegedly been producing and selling fake degree and diploma certificates purporting them to be genuine and issued by Garissa University,” notes the commission.

EACC is seeking to file a suit aimed at recovering all salaries and benefits earned by Hassan on the basis of “fake academic qualifications”.

He was released on police bail of Ksh50,000 and will be arraigned before the Garissa Law Courts on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.
