A police report seen by K24 Digital indicates that the patient, Dennis Kemboi, was being treated for gunshot wounds when the gun-toting gang raided the hospital at about 12:45 am.

Prior to the incident, 10 police officers drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Keiyo North and Iten Police Station had visited the hospital after receiving information that the patient had plans of escaping from the facility.

After consultation with the doctor on duty, the officers were informed that the patient was in stable condition and could be discharged.

The officers divided themselves into two groups ready for the exercise of discharging Kemboi.

“Four police officers went to the ward to help secure discharge of the said while the other six officers were manning the main hospital gate,” the police report reads.

However, immediately after the patient was discharged at about 2:10 am, police said, a group of 10 young men, six armed with AK47 rifles, emerged from the entrance of the hospital, stormed the ward, smashed windows and managed to rescue the patient from the officers.

Police confirmed that nobody was injured during the commotion.

Further, police are yet to arrest any suspect regarding the daring raid.

“In that commotion, nobody was injured. Police officers combed the area but no arrest made,” police added.
