The Directorate of Criminal Investigations on Wednesday, April 19 completed investigations into the death of Jeff Mwathi who died on February 22, 2023, under unclear circumstances.

The agency said it has received the final autopsy report from the state pathologist and the government chemist.

“This is after the homicide department, which has been investigating the incident received an autopsy report from the government pathologist and the government chemist, following a fresh probe into the death as ordered by the DCI Director, Mr Mohamed Amin.

“The file is now complete and has been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions this evening, for perusal and advice,” DCI said.

In a case that has attracted a lot of public interest, the DCI Director Mohamed Amin, ordered fresh investigations into Mwathi’s mysterious death.

The exam conducted by Chief Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor established that Jeff Mwathi had severe head injuries.

He also had fractures on the upper and lower limbs as well as on his neck.

It established that Mwathi died due to severe head and limb injuries.

Oduor indicated that it will take at least three months to know whether the deceased was sexually molested or not.

“We have taken more samples to carry out a toxicology test and also to establish if he was sexually molested before he met his death,” Oduor said.

Although the autopsy did not conclusively determine what caused his death, Oduor said he died largely because of the severe injuries he suffered.

DJ Fatxo, the prime suspect in the murder probe, has since recorded his statement with the police.
