Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has asked people from Mt. Kenya region to reject any attempt by a section of leaders to drag them out of government.
Waiguru said people from Kirinyaga will not abandon Kenya Kwanza government for the opposition, noting that some ‘sweet talking politicians’ out of their selfish interests, are busy trying to hoodwink people from the region to leave government.
“Kirinyaga will not go to the opposition because some people are bitter. We have nothing to do with what happened and because it happened, we will not throw the baby with the bathing water. It is not possible that all leaders are against one person unless he is the problem. Let us be wise, we want our community to be respected everywhere.” she stressed.
Speaking during the launch of Kiandai Dispensary in Kiini Ward on Thursday, the governor said that all leaders hold public positions in trust and no one should hold the country at ransom for losing their seat.
“We will not bring down our house because its roof is leaking, we are wise, and we will remain in there and repair it. We are not leaving the government for the opposition. Mt, Kenya voted for this government to the last man and we must support it to benefit from development projects,” she stressed.
Waiguru also urged leaders in Mount Kenya region to stop ongoing politicking and instead focus on fulfilling their development promises to the people.
She said Kirinyaga is reaping big from projects initiated in collaborations with national government and abandoning the government at this particular moment would put the projects in jeopardy.
Citing the ongoing construction of the Sagana Industrial Park, markets, roads among others, Waiguru said Kenya Kwanza government had pumped in millions to develop the county.
She also called for a stop to ongoing abductions and forced disappearances of Kenyans, saying it has no place in modern Kenya and should not be happening.
“I do not support abductions, and there is no leader who is supporting abductions and they must be stopped,” said the governor.
