Senate Speaker Amason Kingi now says the senate will ensure complete devolution of functions and resources even as it pushes for transparency and accountability from County Governments.

In a speech delivered on his behalf by Nominated Senator Veronica Maina during the Center for Corporate Governance consultative forum involving the Senate and County Assemblies to review ten years of devolution, Speaker Kingi recognized the role of the Judiciary in protecting devolution through issuing interpretations that protected the Senate.

Senate Kingi also recognized the milestones achieved by the previous two Senates despite supremacy battles with the National Assembly.

Kisumu Senator Prof Tom Ojienda in his address, delivered by his Personal Assistant, Dr. Simon Peter, noted Counties are yet to embrace the principles underpinning good Corporate Governance practices such as transparency, accountability, fairness, independence, and sustainability.

The forum spearheaded by the Centre for Corporate Governance, a training institution, brings together corporate Governance practitioners both in the private and public sectors for enhanced and sustainable social-economic development.
