World 10,000m silver medallist Daniel Simiu and Sheila Chelangat emerged as the 10km champions during the 13th edition of the National Police Service Cross Country Championship held today at the Ngong Race Course.
Daniel Simiu, who was in peak form, won the men’s race with a time of 29 minutes, 51.60 seconds, two seconds ahead of the Anti Stock Theft Unit’s Kiplimo Mayebei, who came in second, and DCI’s Robert Kiprop, who came home third.
Josephat Kiprotich and Edwin Bett placed fifth and fourth, respectively.
In the women’s 10-kilometer event, Central’s Sheila Chelangat was simply unmatched, finishing the race far ahead of the others in 33 minutes, 50.30 seconds.
Sussy Chebet from Rift Valley finished 11 seconds behind the winner, while Linet Masai of GSU was 3rd.
Gladys Kwamboka and Stacy Ndiwa finished in fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
