Police in Narok have arrested two con witch doctors who claim to use ‘swarm of bees’ to arrest suspected thieves.
The Ugandan Nationals, a woman aged 50, and a middle aged man were arrested by police after residents raised concerns about their sorcery like activities in Lenana Estate in Narok town.
The duo, operating under the name “Dr. Mama Tiba,” were found with peculiar items including woven baskets, water bottles, and plastic containers allegedly used in black magic rituals.
Police also seized various items such as herbal powders, snail shells, several bottles containing unidentified liquids, and materials wrapped in paper, among other paraphernalia, from their premises.
Narok Central Police Commander John Momanyi, who displayed the confiscated items to the media outside the Narok Central CID offices, said the raid on the house in Lenana Estate was prompted by complaints from the public.
Momanyi revealed that hundreds of residents had been paying the self-proclaimed witch doctor to perform the act to draw attention and gain popularity in the area.
Residents led by Douglas Masikonte reacted to the arrest saying the witch doctors had become a major attraction in Narok town with hundreds of people reportedly visiting their rented house to seek assistance.
Masikonte who was among the crowd that gathered at Narok Police Station to witness the arrest, disclosed that over 100 customers had sought the witch doctors’ services with some being charged over Ksh100,000 for help with business challenges, marital issues, and even libido enhancement.
“She charges a consultation fee of Ksh2,500 and a white hen. Many of her clients have abandoned their vehicles in her compound after failing to pay for her services,” said Masikonte.
