Members of the National Assembly have approved the appointment of Sammy Chepkwony as the Chairperson of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC), succeeding Lynn Mengich, whose term ended September last year.
The lawmakers also approved the appointments of Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Martin Kizito Ong’onyi, Mohamed Aden Abdi, Jane Gatakaa Njage, Dr. Gilda Odera, Dr. Geoffrey Apollo Omondi, and Leonid Ashindu as members of the Commission.
In a special sitting convened by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, the MPs acted on the recommendations of the Departmental Committee on Labour, granting approval for the seven nominees to take up their positions at the SRC as proposed by President William Ruto.
Chepkwony is a human resources expert with more than 30 years of experience. He has held various roles in organisations such as Kenya Airways, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC), Aga Khan University, and People Centric Management Limited.
Mengich served as Chairperson of the Commission for six years, from 2018 to 2024.
