The government has announced plans to evacuate Kenyans in Lebanon, following a conflict in the Middle East countries.
In a statement on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs set urged all Kenyans to register for immediate evacuation.
The government has lamented that most Kenyans in Lebanon have ignored previous calls for registration, making evacuation efforts difficult.
“As per our previous press releases and subsequent communication, the Government of Kenya wishes to confirm that we continue to prioritize the safety of all Kenyan nationals currently residing in Lebanon amidst the escalating situation. We are deeply concerned that a large number of Kenyans in Lebanon have not yet registered for evacuation despite our repeated calls,” the statement read in part.
The government says only registered Kenyans will be eligible for evacuation.
“To ensure the safety and timely evacuation of all our citizens, we urge all Kenyans in Lebanon to immediately register with us. Only registered Kenyans will be eligible for evacuation,” the statement added.
The government says it has successfully evacuated two groups of Kenyans from Lebanon.
“We are committed to continuing these efforts until every Kenyan in need is safely home. The deadline for registration is 12th October 2024. Any Kenyan who wishes to be evacuated must ensure that their registration is completed before this date,” the statement added.
