Two-time world cross-country champion and double Olympic gold medallist Beatrice Chebet will take part in Sunday’s  2024 edition of the Cross Internacional de Itálica in Santiponce Seville, Spain.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a superb season. She won the 5000 metres and 10,000 metres  women titles at the  2024 Paris Olympics, three months after becoming the first woman to dip under the 29-minute barrier in the 10,000 metres race when she clocked 28 minute and 54.14 seconds in Eugene in May.

Chebet, who is also the reigning world champion and world record holder for the 5 kilometre road race will be making her third appearance in the race following her runners-up spot in 2020 and her third placing in 2021.

It will be her first race since her 5000 metres victory at the Diamond League Final in Brussels.

Her compatriots Mercy Chepkemoi and Kazakhstan’s Daisy Jepkemei will also take part in the Cross country tour all determined to challenge her for the title.
