Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga claimed that police raided several of his homes on Friday, May 12.
Among the homes, he claimed were raided included at Muthaiga estate in Nyahururu, in Ng’arua, Laikipia County, and at Wanyororo in Nakuru County.
However, Nyahururu Sub County police boss Tom Okoth in whose jurisdiction Maina’s Muthaiga and Ng’arua homes are located denied any knowledge of the raids.
Maina said: “I have been informed by my workers about the raids. It is also true that they also conducted the same raid here. They claimed that they were looking for me.”
He added that he had also been informed that police attempted to conduct similar raid at his Wanyororo home in Nakuru County.
A worker at his Muthaiga home in Nyahururu town, Christopher Wafula, said a contingent of police arrived at the home in two police vehicles at around 6:30 in the morning.
“They knocked at the gate and said that they were here to conduct a search. I let them in and they left minutes later without saying anything after searching the house,” he said.
The Sub County Police boss denied knowledge of the said raid within his area of jurisdiction.
“I am not aware of any raid or involvement of my officers in the said raid,” he said.
